Monica Raymund leaves ‘Chicago Fire’ before season 7
Say goodbye to Gabby Dawson, “Chicago Fire” fans, as Monica Raymund announced she will officially leave Dick Wolf’s NBC firefighter drama ahead of Season 7.
“It was an honor playing Dawson on ‘Chicago Fire’ and one of the most meaningful experiences of my life,” Raymund tweeted on Tuesday. “I am so grateful for the journey and especially for all of you who have followed, but I have made the decision that it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life.”
Last Thursday’s Season 6 finale set up a storyline that would allow Raymund to escape when Gabby Dawson was asked to join a group of volunteer medical workers aiming to help repair the damage in Puerto Rico following the devastation. destruction caused by storm season.
Raymund announced her departure just days after the Peacock network renewed all of Wolf’s dramas on the network, including “Law & Order: SVU,” “Chicago Fire” and its spinoffs it “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med” for 2018-19. (You can see NBC’s recently announced fall schedule here).
