Taylor Kinney may now be known for his role on Chicago Fire, but there was a time where he was more famous for his personal life. The actor was engaged to pop superstar Lady Gaga in 2015, and he even in one of her music videos.
Kinney and Gaga broke off their engagement in 2016, however, and both celebrities have gone on to have other relationships. Kinney recently got married to model Ashley Cruger, and Gaga has been in a relationship with Michael Polansky since 2020.
Sources claim Gaga still has a soft spot for Kinney
A recent In Touch Weekly report, however, posited that Gaga still has a soft spot for the Chicago Fire. Sources close to the singer claim that Gaga was never more vulnerable and open with a partner than she was with Taylor Kinney:
” She honestly still seems hung up on Taylor — he had a Prince Charming vibe. She hasn’t been the same since, and I’ve never known her to be as fragile as she is with Michael.”
These claims stem from the rumor that Gaga and her current boyfriend are clashing behind closed doors. The sources claiming to be close friends of the pop singer go on to state that Polansky has inserted himself into her career, and tried to exert his will over creative decisions.

This, evidently, was something that Kinney never tried to do. The sources praise the Chicago Fire star for being supporting of Lady Gaga without trying to provide input. “He was a much bigger softie, and he certainly didn’t insert himself into matters involving her career,” the source asserted.
Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney haven’t publicly addressed their split since 2016. They have maintained silence with regards to their personal dynamic, and whether they keep in touch. The last time one of them referenced the other, in fact, was in an NBC interview from 2017.
Kinney told the anchor that he was focused on his career at the time, and “living vicariously” through his character in terms of romantic experiences. The actor retained an air of secrecy around his dating life in the years that followed, only revealing that he was with Ashley Cruger after the couple had been together for several years.
