“Imminently!”: Severide And Kidd Have More Conflict Ahead, Warns Chicago Fire Season 12 Boss

More conflict is coming Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd’s way in Chicago Fire season 12.

Two years after the pair tied the knot, their relationship still hasn’t had any major movement forward, primarily because issues have plagued them. It didn’t help that Severide was absent from Firehouse 51 until the Chicago Fire season 11 finale, which made it difficult to develop their dynamic. Things appear to have already settled between the couple, but, unfortunately, more issues are coming their way before the end of One Chicago’s current year.

In a new interview with TV Insider, Andrea Newman warns that there’s “more conflict and surprises ahead! Imminently,” for Severide and Kidd even though Chicago Fire season 12 is already coming to a close. She doesn’t offer any clue as to what their future problem will be, but she cites Severide and Kidd’s job at Firehouse 51 as a potential source of argument. Read her full quote below:

Relationships are always complicated, but especially when you work so closely in a life-and-death job. Severide and Kidd are deeply in love, and the heat is always on between them, but that just makes it more explosive when conflicts arise.

Severide & Kidd’s Story Will Continue To Be Bumpy.

Chicago Fire season 12 is arguably one of the most tumultuous years for Firehouse 51 in quite a while. Despite having a shortened run due to its late premiere, Wolf Entertainment and NBC are still able to squeeze as many major plots, all while also dealing with constant cast changes. Chicago Fire’s latest character exit is Derrick Gibson, but at the end of its current run, it will also say goodbye to Chief Wallace Boden, which will have massive ramifications for how Firehouse 51 operates, and that in turn, could add additional pressure on both Severide and Kidd.

Another possible source of conflict for the couple may have to do with Severide’s obsession with arson cases and being a fire cop.

Another possible source of conflict for the couple may have to do with Severide’s obsession with arson cases and being a fire cop. This was already a frustration for Kidd, especially after her husband failed to communicate his plans during his time attending an OFI camp back in Chicago Fire season 11. It does seem like she has finally gotten over her fears that one day, Severide will just drop everything and prioritize his side. However, it doesn’t mean that One Chicago cannot revive this issue, especially if Severide continues to be roped into arson mysteries.

It is a bit disappointing that Severide and Kidd’s marriage will be hampered by more issues. In light of Joe Cruz’s impending divorce from Chloe, one would assume that one marital issue would be enough for Chicago Fire season 12. That isn’t the case, with Newman and her team determined to continue testing the bond between Severide and Kidd despite the couple proving that their relationship is solid.
